I believe Audrey will have fond memories of the storytime rug, weather chart, birthday appreciation days, her older grade study buddy, Zoe, Lily, and the guy she weekly wanted to marry, Jonah.
However, the girls noticed one station that looked pretty fun: catapult a soaked water ball to try to hit a live-teacher-target. The line for this one was loooooong and I was impressed as I watched the girls wait....and wait....and wait.
It was finally Audrey's turn. She carefully soaked the ball. She waited for the helper to set the rig. She ready....aims...and FIRES!!!!
The catapult springs forward, and smacks Audrey's chin with great force. I unintentionally captured the incident and didn't realize until editing pictures later. Audrey's lip started to bleed, and as any mother knows, lips bleed PROFUSELY. The helpers and teachers were murmuring "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh" as they were bumping around trying to find some ice for it. It looked worse than it was, but Audrey was definately done with games after that.
As we walked away, I could hear the adults saying, "Man that is SO wierd. We haven't had one injury all day. "
And, "That was our first mishap we have ever had with this machine in all the years I've done this..."
I had to laugh and shake my head because that can just be the way things are sometimes.
