It finally happened...

I've heard about it happening to other people, but never expected it to happen to us.

But what could I expect at 10 yrs old? What did I think would happen when neglected and allowed to be dirty all the time? This is the result of being overweight and overburdened....

Oh--I'm not talking about one of the kids! Did I mislead you? ;o) I'm referring to our computer silly. It finally crashed and we lost almost EVERYTHING. When Christopher opened up the monolithic hard drive he said, "Uh, honey, could you get me the vaccum with the attachment hose?" There were fist-sized dust balls in there. Fans were hardly spinning due to grimy build-up. The prognosis didn't look too good...

Several hours later and a trip across town to a Computer EMT, we recovered a minimal amount of data to get ol' bessie up and running. (Most importantly, we recovered the entire semester of Julian's schoolwork which is all done on the computer.) Now the question is, do we keep her going and pray she doesn't go into cardiac arrest again? Or shell out the money for a brain transplant for her? We didn't like either option but had to choose one.

I sit here now typing on our geriatric computer...sigh. Every time one of sits down to use it, we take a deep breath and say a little prayer wondering if that will be the time she conks out. I think I'm going to tape a little sign on the monitor that says, "DO NOT RESUSCITATE ".
