Don't worry, be happy

I still love that (relatively) old Bobby Ferrin song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy". It brings to mind lazy, summer days...the happy face pins on the 80 yr old greeter at Wal-Mart...the simplicity of watching a little baby play...waking up and the sun is shining to meet you...stuff like that. The song coos for us to relax, stay in the beauty of the moment, and enjoy our blessings.
Pretty hard to do in today's world, no?

and.......

I'm sure someone else could continue on for me. Yet the simple song says to "Be of good cheer" just like the Bible does (Matt 9:2). I think I can do that. Life gets better. Circumstances change. The weather clears up.
I would ask myself, do I want to be the bird in this picture or the cat? I can choose and so can you.

Red Rock Canyon

This is a video my sister made from her recent visit here. She is a maverick hiker/naturalist/camperoo and she gave us a wonderful gift: being able to see the life and beauty of the desert. She took us to Red Rock Canyon and would stop every once in a while and show the kids something really cool and amazing. I overheard Julian saying, "Wow I thought this would be a really boring hiking trip but I'm having the best time!!"

Audrey walked the WHOLE way, which amazed us all. Ethan was confined to the backpack which he didn't really care for, but the terrain would've been too rough for him and I didn't pack a lot of band-aids.

Thanks to Julie for teaching us about plants, rocks, soil, weather patterns, and why not to litter even biodegradeable things like orange peels.

You are too cool, Jool.

The Taste Testing Team

Now that Rock City Espresso is actually and finally open for business, I think we are its most frequent customers! I wonder if we should start a punch card?
Actually it serves as excellent quality-control. The kids give us their expert advice--from their perspective--on how the drinks are. Too hot...too sweet...straw too long and poked up the nose... Y'know the important things.
We are really working hard on advertising now and getting people in to try the coffee so they'll make the switch. We are going for fast-friendly-flavor.
