Laser Hair Removal
Julian saw a sign advertising "laser hair removal" and asked what it was. I said that it was a way to permanently remove hair by using a laser. He replied, "Geez, why don't those people just go to a barber?? Sounds a lot less painful!"

Transparent butterfly
This would be a GREAT NAME for a blog, wouldn't it? Dibs on the name if I ever start a different one just for myself.

Another Audrey-ism
This morning Ethan desperately wanted something and we couldn't understand what it was. This resulted in a whole heap of whining and fussing on his part, to which Audrey announced, "Ethan! Stop your whining! It's annoying for my ears!"

Las Vegas...the eagle has landed

After weeks of hard, physical labor in the hot sun the stand was finally ready to be moved into "the hole". I can't even begin to tell you the process Christopher went through just to find the water line (had to dig up 1/2 of the parking lot), pass health inspections (gut out most of the existing cabinetry), and get wired for electricity (almost knocked power out for the ENTIRE strip mall). We had planned on lots of "speed bumps" in this new-business-adventure, yet now we are feeling like it is cruel and unusual punishment.
I continue to be amazed at my husband's stamina, perseverance, and git-r-dun attitude. He has been incredibly strong, and actually gained a lot of physical strength from the ditch digging. {Claire said he had "magazine muscles" now} I have wanted to just give up so many times and admit defeat, but not him. He gets up every single day at 5am and heads out for the next wave of drama or trauma there.
All I can do is think positive...that perseverance does pay off. That I know for sure.
Hey ya wanna see our logo? It's taken from one of the tshirts I'm making...

Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix
We spent the evening at the Go Karts last night, where Audrey enjoyed multiple roller coaster rides, and Julian sped around the raceway in his very own car. (He let me know afterward that he was ready for his drivers license! yikes) Ethan didn't want to go on any rides but simply enjoyed watching the cars whizz around. He is quite enamored with all things trucks and cars. Claire was at a birthday party at this place so I don't have any pictures of her. She requested that we "don't embarrass her" while she was at the party. :o} Audrey and Ethan adore her and would want to be with her, so we kept to our own side of the fun park and met up at the end of the night.

It finally happened...
I've heard about it happening to other people, but never expected it to happen to us.
But what could I expect at 10 yrs old? What did I think would happen when neglected and allowed to be dirty all the time? This is the result of being overweight and overburdened....
Oh--I'm not talking about one of the kids! Did I mislead you? ;o) I'm referring to our computer silly. It finally crashed and we lost almost EVERYTHING. When Christopher opened up the monolithic hard drive he said, "Uh, honey, could you get me the vaccum with the attachment hose?" There were fist-sized dust balls in there. Fans were hardly spinning due to grimy build-up. The prognosis didn't look too good...
Several hours later and a trip across town to a Computer EMT, we recovered a minimal amount of data to get ol' bessie up and running. (Most importantly, we recovered the entire semester of Julian's schoolwork which is all done on the computer.) Now the question is, do we keep her going and pray she doesn't go into cardiac arrest again? Or shell out the money for a brain transplant for her? We didn't like either option but had to choose one.
I sit here now typing on our geriatric computer...sigh. Every time one of sits down to use it, we take a deep breath and say a little prayer wondering if that will be the time she conks out. I think I'm going to tape a little sign on the monitor that says, "DO NOT RESUSCITATE ".
